Kimberly McCreary, Life Coach

Kimberly McCreary received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Florida and received her Master's in Clinical Counseling ad Psychology from Troy University. She has worked with children ad adolescents since 2003 in foster care and clinical settings for the Children's Home Society and Devereaux. She is currently working in clinical practice as an intern treating individuals who suffer from Depression, Anxiety, Bi-polar disorder, Substance abuse, Suicidal Ideation, Stress, PTSD, and various Adjustment disorders. She works with couples for premarital and marriage counseling as well.

She has constructed and implemented a women's group for at-risk youth ages 16-22 at Sheeler's Charter High School in Apopka, FL. She is currently working on a project for women's empowerment and self-esteem for girls. Kimberly has a dedication to serving the community though volunteering and outreach. She is a volunteer at the Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter for battered women and children. Kimberly is currently working on the Community Awareness Program at Therapy International inc for psycho-educational seminar for public awareness of mental illness and living with those of mental illness. She has organized donation drives for Veteran's for the James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa, Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, and for victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

She served as President for Chi Sigma Iota Tau Upsilon the International Honor Society at Troy University from 2010-2011. She is currently Past President. Kimberly is serving as a member of the 2012 Conference Planning committee for the American Mental Health Counselors Association upcoming conference, which will be held in July 2012 Orlando.

She is a member of the following association: Florida Counselors Association, American Mental Health Counselor Association, the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota (National Chapter), Chi Sigma Iota Tau Upsilon (Local Chapter), Florida Marriage ad Family Counselors Association, ad Florida Mental Health Counselors Association. 

She is a Senior Research Assistant to Dr. Gregory Dawson's research project on treating Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting patients with Depression. She has published article and given presentations at the local, state, and national level on said research.

Her theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Humanistic Approach. She has studied and used Mindfulness Based Therapy for treating patients with Anxiety and chronic medical conditions. "I believe each person has the true inner ability and strength to overcome any situation in their lives.
